Why should you stop fast forwarding through commercials?

As we skip TV ads more often, investment in local tv productions is under pressure. Operators introduce therefore at request of the TV broadcasters an adapted, model for TV advertising, in order to support the local television market.
Why should you stop fast forwarding through commercials?
The way all of us watch TV has evolved tremendously. Not only do we watch TV and video content "anywhere" on all kinds of screens, we also watch it "anytime", whenever it suits us. In other words, we don't always watch things live (but recordings or in replay). Exactly the type of habits that make us skip TV ads more often.
Because local TV programs produced by commercial stations are largely funded through advertising, investment is under pressure. All Belgian broadcasting groups are therefore asking operators, including Proximus, to introduce an adapted model for TV advertising, in order to support the local television market.
This allows your favorite programs to keep running in the future, while you'll also continue to enjoy the vast extent of Pickx's varied offer. Including some of our own productions!
What does this mean for Proximus Pickx customers?
Watching a recorded program will be preceded by 1 minute of non-skippable advertising. During the recorded program, fast-forwarding is still possible (including advertisements).
- From April 2023, this principle was implemented on Flemish TV channels. VTM was the first, and other Flemish channels have gradually followed.
- From November 2025, this principle will also be applied to French-speaking TV channels. RTL will be the first to implement this.
