Proximus fiber: No.1 in Belgium according to Ookla® & nPerf

In May 2024 Ookla®, a global player in data insights about connectivity, recognized the Proximus fiber network as the fastest network in Belgium. Now Proximus has also won the Ookla® Speedtest Award for the third and fourth quarters of 2024. The award is based on more than 4 million tests of fixed network connections, initiated by users with various providers and conducted via various applications.

With a maximum download speed of 828.66 Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 506.95 Mbps, the results of the measurements on Proximus fiber were significantly higher than on the networks of other providers.

Two to twenty times faster

The annual ‘Barometer of fixed internet connections’ from nPerf, an independent French player in testing and analyzing network performance, shows again that fiber allows much higher speeds to be achieved compared to other broadband technologies.

For ultrafast connections with download speeds upward of 100 Mbps Proximus does significantly better for all parameters than the competition, with download speeds that are twice as high and upload speeds that are even ten to twenty times higher than those of other operators. These results were measured on the basis of more than 400,000 tests conducted in Belgium.

Ookla® is an American company that gives insight into the performance of connectivity solutions. The Ookla® Speedtest allows the speed of a fixed network connection to be checked. The Ookla® Speedtest Award was given to Proximus based on four million of these tests.

nPerf is a French enterprise that measures and analyzes network performance. The company publishes its findings in the annual ‘Barometer of fixed internet connections’. To do so, it bundles the results of thousands of speed tests conducted by internet users for each country.
